Job Description

Right at Home is currently hiring Caregivers to care for clients in Indianapolis and surrounding communities. The local office provides non-medical home care for seniors and adults who need help on a daily basis but want to remain in their own homes.
We are now accepting applications for full-time positions. Experience in caregiving, home health care or personal care is helpful, although not required for all openings. New employees are not assigned clients until after they have completed orientation and job training.

Work Performed During Each Shift

Caregivers visit the clients’ homes as per the daily schedule prepared by the office. Each client has a personal care plan so duties can vary throughout the week.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Helping clients dress and get ready for the day.
  • Assistance with bathing, grooming and personal hygiene.
  • Preparing meals based on diet instructions.
  • Washing the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen after meals.
  • Changing sheets and light laundry.
  • Vacuuming, sweeping and tidying up living areas.
  • Transport to doctor’s appointments and grocery stores when needed.
  • Providing companionship on visits.
  • Providing medication reminders per care plan.
  • Inform office staff of changes in client’s condition.

Who can apply?

You may still be considered even if you do not have professional experience as long as you are reliable, willing to undergo training, and able to meet the hiring criteria of the local office.

Minimum Requirements

The following conditions must be met by applicants:

  • Preferred: High school diploma or GED. 
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Driver’s license valid.
  • Today car insurance transport assignment.
  • Dependable personal car
  • Ability to pass background check.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to lift/move up to approximately 50 lbs, when necessary.

Schedule

We have client visits available throughout the week.

Caregivers can work depending on the assignment:

  • Day shifts.
  • Afternoon shifts. 
  • Evenings.
  • Overnight shifts
  • Weekend shifts

Weekly schedules are developed based on caregiver availability and client needs. Additional hours may be available at times of increased client demand.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $41,000 - $54,000 depending on scheduled hours, experience and local pay practices.

Work Environment

Most shifts take place inside clients’ homes. On scheduled visits, caregivers work independently and are in touch with the local office when they need help.

The position involves a lot of movement during the day. Job duties as typical would include walking, standing, bending, reaching, carrying groceries and assisting clients with mobility. The physical demands will depend on the care plan of the client.
